So I have two interns from my alma mater working on various projects for me this summer and as part of their internships, I’m requiring that they conceptualize and learn how to launch a small media business in the next 90 days and that they spend a minimum of 10 hours a week working on it. (I’m shamelessly ripping off Seth Godin here.) Once a week, we do a group discussion and in the meantime, I’m available to advise on any issues that happen to come up. Ideally, they leave equipped with the basics to start a business and any existing knowledge gaps they have (finance, marketing, whatever…) get addressed.
However, I think this would be more useful to all involved if we had a few more participants. I think 3 or 4 more people would be ideal.
Here are the requirements:
- You have an idea for a business, but no experience starting one.
- You’re willing to commit at least 10 hours a week working on it and to meet once a week with me and the other participants.
- You’re willing and able to commit to the 90 day timeline and submit parts of your project on schedule.
- You’re in New York.
What you get in return: dialogue with other beginning entrepreneurs, some good contacts for your project and what’s essentially free consulting from me (the latter of which would be price-prohibitive for most beginning entrepreneurs if I were charging.)
So if you’re interested in participating, send me an email with the following:
Your resume, a short description of what you’d like to do/your vision for your project, and an update on where you are with it if you’ve already started it. My email is espiers AT gmail. Application deadline: June 15.
